Harry Styles performed a song widely believed to be about his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift during his final London Wembley residency show on Friday, July 3. The date coincided with Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce in New York.
Fans noted Styles' decision to perform "Two Ghosts," a 2017 single from his album "Fine Line," had not been part of his setlist for previous Wembley dates. The song is commonly interpreted as being inspired by his past relationship with Swift. Lyrics include "Same lips red, same eyes blue/ Same white shirt, couple more tattoos/But it's not you, and it's not me/Tastes so sweet, looks so real."
Social media users on X (formerly Twitter) suggested Styles' performance was a deliberate acknowledgment of Swift's wedding. One post read: "HARRY STYLES JUST SANG TWO GHOSTS ON TAYLOR SWIFTS WEDDING DAY WHAT IS HAPPENING." Another commented on the "concept of Harry Styles being invited to Taylor Swift's wedding but not being able to go because he has a show, and at that show he goes in a suit and sings Two Ghosts."
Reports indicated that Swift had extended an invitation to Styles for her wedding, but he was unable to attend due to his ongoing tour. Styles' fiancée, Zoe Kravitz, however, was reportedly in attendance at the ceremony. Kravitz, who has a songwriting credit on Swift's song "Lavender Haze," has been a friend of Swift's.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding took place in front of approximately 1,000 guests. The couple announced their marriage via video advertisements displayed at Madison Square Garden. Both the bride and groom wore Christian Dior. Guests included actors Julia Roberts and Adam Sandler, who also officiated the ceremony. Paul McCartney performed at the reception.
The relationship between Swift and Styles, which lasted a few months in 2012, is thought to have inspired songs by both artists. Swift's 2014 songs "Out of the Woods" and "Style" are widely reported to have been inspired by their time together.
