Harry Styles playfully teased the audience about body odor on the second night of his 30-show residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The comment came during a breathing exercise as Styles encouraged fans to raise their hands.
"Smell those New York City armpits!" Styles said into the microphone, prompting laughter from the crowd. A clip of the moment was shared on TikTok.
The 32-year-old singer, dressed in a mustard sweater, black blazer, and yellow trousers, also shared a positive message with his fans, stating, "Already, we're gonna dance today and tonight we're gonna sing together, we're gonna share this moment together."
This is not the first time Styles has made light of audience odor. Fans noted on social media that he previously gave out deodorant during a show in Los Angeles when he perceived the crowd to be particularly pungent. Others recalled a similar lighthearted jab during a show in Amsterdam.
The residency, which began on August 26, features performances on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and will conclude on October 31. Styles' 30 shows at the iconic venue are his only U.S. performances scheduled for this year.
Earlier in the week, on the first night of his residency, Styles paid tribute to the late country music legend Dolly Parton. Following news of Parton's death, Styles told the audience, "I just want to say thank you to all the musicians over the years that have inspired me. Dolly thank you so much." His band then performed a rendition of "I Will Always Love You."
Styles is currently touring in support of his fourth studio album, "Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally." His global residency tour, named "Together, Together," was announced earlier in the year and includes 50 stops across various cities, including Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City, Melbourne, and Sydney, alongside his extensive New York City dates.
His previous 12-night run at London's Wembley Stadium set a record for the longest residency by a solo artist at the venue. Country music star Shania Twain served as a support act for those shows.
