Harry Styles was forced to cancel a show in Brazil this week due to "tour illness," a development that has raised concerns about the strenuous nature of his 67-show world tour. The cancellation occurred on Tuesday, though Styles was back on stage by Friday night in São Paulo.

The tour, dubbed "Together, Together," is expected to gross $1 billion. A friend of Styles described the tour as "grueling" but added that the singer "loves it — and it’s what he signed up for." Another promoter noted that the job is "physically demanding," but that Styles is attempting to balance fan demand with realism.

Styles is scheduled to embark on a 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City in the coming weeks. This follows a record-breaking 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium in London earlier this summer. During one London performance in June, Styles appeared to choke on water and fell to the ground, subsequently coughing and heaving, which sparked concern among fans.

Online observers estimate Styles runs two to three miles per night on stage. To prepare for the demands of touring, Styles has worked with trainer Brad Gould and former special forces soldier Thibo David. David revealed that Styles, who has completed the Berlin and Tokyo marathons, can run a mile in approximately 5 minutes and 13 seconds. David also stated that Styles aims to avoid onstage injuries and has built endurance to maintain high energy during performances. "His tours are incredibly demanding, both physically and mentally, with long performances, travel, and limited recovery time," David said.

Beyond physical conditioning, Styles emphasizes mental health, stress management, hydration, sleep, and nutrition. His training has included boxing and workouts at facilities like the Chicago Bulls' gym, and he has run the stairs of venues they visited.

Styles is currently promoting his fourth studio album, "Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in March. While this album has not received the same critical acclaim as its predecessor, "Harry’s House," which won the Album of the Year Grammy in 2023, Styles' friend noted that the new record was specifically made for live performance and that Styles desires to be close to his fans on this dance-oriented tour.

Following his "Love on Tour," which concluded in July 2023, Styles took a break of approximately two and a half years, spending time in Italy and becoming engaged to actress Zoë Kravitz. During this period, Styles spoke about the isolation of fame and how long-distance running has become a form of personal therapy. He told the UK Sunday Times in February, "The idea of taking time out felt insane. I didn’t know if I could do it."

Styles will begin his MSG residency on August 26, with Jamie xx as support. He is expected to stay at Kravitz's home in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, which sources say will allow him to be more "settled." The singer is scheduled to conclude his tour in Australia in December. A friend commented, "He’s going to be an artist for the rest of his life."
