Four grandmothers who befriended professional wrestler DeReiss Gordon, also known as Man Like DeReiss, on a flight to Las Vegas are in discussions about turning their story into a film. The group met Gordon in April while traveling to the city to scatter the ashes of one of the women's late husbands.
Initially, there was some confusion over seating arrangements on the plane, but the encounter soon developed into a friendship. The grandmothers, Lynn Crawford, 71, Susie Matthews, 73, Rose Sulley, 74, and Christine Goodwin, 80, accepted Gordon's invitation to attend one of his wrestling matches.
Film producer Nick Barton, known for his work on "Calendar Girls" and "The Full Monty," has reportedly approached the group about a potential movie. Barton stated that he believes the story is "extraordinary" and has the potential to become a "brilliant and successful movie."
Barton contacted Gordon and the grandmothers after first hearing about their story in May. He is now working on the next steps for production, drawing parallels between this narrative and previous successful film projects he has been involved with.
