A public wake for musician Glen Hansard will be held on Monday, August 3, at the IMMA, Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin, followed by his funeral service the next day at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin city center.

The wake will be open to the public between 11:00 and 16:00 local time, allowing attendees to pay their respects as Hansard lies in repose. The funeral service is scheduled for 13:30 on Tuesday. While the funeral is also open to the public, seating inside the cathedral is expected to be limited due to anticipated attendance.

Hansard, 56, who gained early recognition for his role in the 1991 musical comedy film The Commitments, was the long-time frontman of the rock band The Frames. He died in a traffic accident in the early hours of Wednesday, shortly after participating in a traditional music session at The Wren's Nest pub in County Dublin.

Music for the funeral service will be provided by friends and family of the singer-songwriter. Tributes to Hansard have poured in from across the music world, with notable figures such as Ed Sheeran and Bruce Springsteen expressing their grief. Former US president Barack Obama, actress Rachel Zegler, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, and singer Billie Eilish were among the high-profile individuals who paid tribute.

A memorial busking event was held in Dublin on Thursday evening in his memory.
