Charley Hull, the British LPGA star, said Donald Trump invited her to play a round of golf after speaking with him at a state banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday night. Hull was among a delegation of golf figures at the Windsor event, which King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted in honor of the U.S. president. The guest list included First Lady Melania Trump and Tiffany Trump with husband Michael Boulos, along with other notable figures linked to golf. The occasion underscored Hull’s standing as a prominent figure on the LPGA Tour as she returns to high-profile U.S. competition.

Hull arrived in Windsor on Wednesday just after sealing her first win on American soil in more than three years, the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. The victory came on the LPGA Tour in Cincinnati, marking a notable milestone as she contends with a long stretch without a U.S. victory.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live on Thursday, Hull said Trump invited her to play a round and noted that the former president had previously reached out to her agent about a late-year match. The two talked the night of the banquet, and Hull said they were planning to try to arrange a game before the end of the year.

She described Trump as a “lovely man” with an engaging manner who spoke with her about golf and knew several players on the LPGA Tour, alongside some male professionals. Hull emphasized that the exchange was casual and focused on sport rather than politics, illustrating the light-hearted moment amid a royal-hosted evening.

Alongside her golfing duties, Hull has cultivated a glamorous public image, including attending the Windsor banquet in a gold halter-neck gown paired with diamond studs and an intricate up-do. The 29-year-old has also been known for smoking cigarettes during competition—a habit she publicly drifted away from in March after a £10,000 bet that she could quit for two months; she has not been seen smoking on the course since.
