Girlguiding has launched its first comprehensive uniform redesign since the 1990s, introducing a collection of 30 clothing items and 15 accessories intended to blend the organization's historical identity with contemporary aesthetics. The new range features modern colors and prints, with design elements such as hidden pockets, thumb holes, and badge sashes that can convert into cross-body bags.
This significant overhaul marks the first time in 30 years that Girlguiding has updated its entire uniform range simultaneously. The organization stated the new collection aims to provide girls with the freedom to express their individuality while fostering a sense of belonging. Members are not required to purchase the new uniform immediately and can continue wearing their existing attire until replacements are needed.
A survey conducted in June of 2,000 UK girls aged six to 16 revealed that 93% felt most comfortable when they had the ability to choose their own styling. Angellica Bell, a presenter and Girlguiding ambassador, commented that the new uniform empowers girls and volunteers to adopt styles that suit them best, encouraging them to embrace their individuality.
The updated range also allows members to wear tops from the new collection with their own trousers, further enhancing flexibility. Prices for the new items start at £12 for a T-shirt.
