The Girl Scouts of the USA announced a new cookie flavor for the 2026 season on Tuesday: Exploremores, a rocky-road ice cream–inspired sandwich cookie featuring chocolate, marshmallow and a toasted almond–flavored crème.

The organization said the cookie will be available nationally early next year through online sales and the familiar neighborhood booths alongside staples such as Thin Mints. A GSUSA press release described Exploremores as reflecting "the spirit of exploration at the heart of every Girl Scout." The announcement comes as sales in the New York region have fallen to their lowest level in more than a decade.

GSUSA said other flavors expected for the 2026 season include Adventurefuls, Caramel Chocolate Chip, Samoas (also marketed as Caramel deLites), Do-si-dos (Peanut Butter Sandwich), Lemonades, Lemon-Ups, Tagalongs (Peanut Butter Patties), Toffee-tastic and Trefoils. The new offering follows the retirement of two flavors at the close of the 2025 season: Girl Scout S'mores, introduced in 2017 as a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with chocolate and marshmallow filling, and Toast-Yay!, introduced in 2021 and described as French toast–flavored and dipped in icing.

Girl Scouts of Greater New York reported total cookie sales of 1.1 million boxes for the 2024–25 season, down from 1.2 million the prior year and the lowest regional total since the 2013–14 season. National figures were not disclosed in the announcement. GSUSA said cookie sales fund local councils and troops and support programs designed to teach girls entrepreneurial skills, including goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.

"With each cookie box sold, consumers are supporting Girl Scouts as they learn, grow and thrive through all of life’s adventures," the GSUSA press release said. The organization emphasized that all proceeds from cookie sales stay local to help fund year-round programming and experiences.

The cookie program has long been a primary fundraising vehicle for the organization, and new flavors or limited runs are a routine part of efforts to sustain interest and sales. GSUSA and local councils periodically retire and introduce flavors as part of product rotation and marketing strategies. Exploremores joins a slate of established and returning varieties as the organization prepares for the next season.

Local troops typically sell cookies through a mix of in-person booths, door-to-door sales and online platforms. GSUSA has invested in digital ordering and shipping options in recent years to broaden access beyond traditional neighborhood table sales, a shift leaders say helps reach customers who may not attend in-person booths.

The organization did not release projected sales targets for the 2026 season or details on pricing for Exploremores. GSUSA representatives did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment beyond the press release.

Retail introductions and retirements will be announced ahead of the 2026 cookie season, and local councils will provide timing and availability for their areas. As the organization rolls out the new flavor, it continues to position the cookie program as both a fundraising mechanism and an educational opportunity for members across its councils.
