Georgia Toffolo has shared an emotional update on her efforts to start a family with her husband, James Watt, revealing they have been trying to conceive for eight months.

Toffolo, 31, and BrewDog co-founder Watt, 43, who married in March of last year, have spoken openly about their desire to have children. Toffolo addressed the subject on social media after repeated inquiries from her followers.

"A little update, because so many of you have asked. We’re going into month eight now," Toffolo said in a video posted online. She described previously carrying "so much shame and embarrassment" about their fertility struggles but found that speaking about it openly was beneficial.

"Saying it out loud changed everything. So, this is just me carrying on the conversation, which helped so much," she explained, thanking her followers for their supportive messages. "I read every single message you send me. Every single one. They have lifted me more than you’ll ever know.

"If you’re somewhere in this too, you are not on your own."

Following her candid post, many social media users shared their own experiences, with some thanking Toffolo for her honesty on a personal matter. Toffolo responded by empathizing with those facing similar challenges.

"So many of you messaged to say that you’re going through the same thing. Eight months, longer, all of it," she shared. "I think there’s something quite comforting knowing that we are not doing this on our own. I just can’t quite put into words how healing that is for me."

Toffolo expressed a desire to continue the conversation, noting that fertility struggles are often kept private. "I was carrying around this huge weight of shame and embarrassment. I really don’t think that is necessary," she said, adding that speaking publicly had been liberating.

She admitted that she had assumed conceiving would be straightforward due to their healthy lifestyles. "I had this belief that because James and I are super healthy, we’re both ridiculous high achievers when it comes to our health, I thought it would just be easy. It really hasn’t been for us. That assumption was completely wrong."

Toffolo also reflected on the perception that pregnancies are common around them. "It just feels like everyone around me is pregnant, having a baby, and it’s just made me realise that actually a baby is never a given. It’s a total blessing."

The couple have undergone fertility checks, which have not yet identified any obvious issues. They are now planning to seek further specialist advice.

"We’re hopeful, let’s see how the next few months go," Toffolo added in her post. The couple married on March 1, 2025, after getting engaged in October 2024. Watt, who has a background in maritime professions, is the co-founder of the BrewDog brewery.
