Georgia Toffolo Refused to Film 'Made in Chelsea' Due to Severe Acne

Georgia Toffolo, known for her role on "Made in Chelsea," revealed that she refused to film the show during the peak of her acne struggles, citing severe skin issues that impacted her mental health.

Toffolo, who appeared on the show for four years until 2018, has battled hyperpigmentation and acne since her teenage years. The severity of her skin condition affected her so significantly that she was granted a special dispensation to wear foundation during her 2017 appearance on "I'm A Celebrity."

In a recent Instagram post, Toffolo discussed her ongoing skin concerns, expressing that she now feels more confident. She recalled that during her time on "Made in Chelsea," the show's production applied a distinct "yellow filter" to scenes, which gave all cast members a glowing appearance. "But what was going on underneath, I was suffering terribly with my skin," she stated. "Most days I didn't want to film."

Her struggle with her complexion also extended to her jungle experience on "I'm A Celebrity," where she initially argued to be allowed to wear foundation due to her fear of appearing on camera without it. She expressed gratitude for being pushed into a position where she had to be more open about her skin, which ultimately helped her change her relationship with it. "I’m so grateful to be able to create this space to normalise that acne, sensitivity, and skin struggles are just… normal," she wrote in her caption. "And to explore what actually works without shame or judgment!"

Toffolo also shared details about her makeup routine, admitting she has spent a considerable amount on foundation over the years. She advised a calm approach to managing breakouts, noting that panic exacerbates the issue. "The goal isn’t to plaster it into submission. It’s to quietly outwit it," she said. "It took me a long time to realise this is just my skin, and that’s okay!!!"

Her journey toward embracing her natural skin began during her "I'm A Celebrity" stint, as makeup is prohibited in the jungle. While she was initially nervous, the experience proved pivotal. She noted that her skin didn't improve significantly without makeup, but the experience marked the start of her "weird little journey" in accepting her skin. "My skin was something that made me feel less than confident, really," she admitted. Georgia Toffolo's skin struggles impacted her mental health

She recalled a particularly impactful moment on "This Morning," where she removed her makeup on air. Despite her fears about public reaction to her acne, she addressed negative comments from social media, which she found to be a significant step in overcoming her insecurities. The NHS reports that while most individuals outgrow acne in their 20s, a small percentage of the population continues to experience it beyond the age of 35. Georgia Toffolo has suffered with acne since she was a teenager
