The guitar played by George Michael in the music video for his hit song "Faith" is set to be auctioned on October 29. Auction House, Sworders, expects the instrument to fetch approximately £100,000.
The guitar was featured prominently in the video for the title track of Michael's 1987 debut solo album. The album achieved worldwide success, selling over 25 million copies. In the "Faith" video, the former Wham! frontman sported his signature leather jacket and aviator sunglasses while playing the sunburst acoustic guitar, a visual element intended to help redefine his public image.
The guitar is part of a larger collection being brought to auction, which includes items from the estate of Michael's personal assistant, Siobhan Bailey. Bailey, who passed away in 2014, had accumulated these possessions during her time working with the artist.
"Faith" was a landmark release for George Michael, marking his successful transition as a solo artist after his time with the duo Wham!. The song and its accompanying album cemented his status as a global pop phenomenon.
