George Best's winner's medal from the 1968 European Cup final has sold for £300,000 at auction. The medal was presented to the Manchester United legend after his team defeated Benfica at Wembley Stadium.

At the same Bonhams auction, a shirt worn by referee Jack Taylor during the 1974 World Cup Final was sold for £28,160. Taylor officiated the match between West Germany and the Netherlands in Berlin, a game in which he awarded two penalties and booked Dutch player Johan Cruyff for diving. West Germany won the final 2-1.
