George and Amal Clooney arrived at the 83rd Venice Film Festival by water taxi on Tuesday, marking a glamorous entrance as the annual event prepares to commence. The festival is particularly significant for George Clooney, 65, as he is scheduled to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award on Wednesday, the opening day of the festival, with Amal by his side.

During their water taxi journey, Amal, 48, showcased her style in a khaki shorts suit, while George, dressed in a white chinos and navy T-shirt, assisted her in disembarking. The couple, who own a villa on Lake Como, have a personal history with the festival. George Clooney has attended the Venice Film Festival for nearly 30 years, beginning with the film "Out of Sight." Significant moments at the festival for him include his wedding to Amal at the Aman Venice and the debut of "Good Night, and Good Luck," which led to his first Oscar nomination for best director.

George was every inch the gentleman as he helped Amal then disembark the water taxi by holding her hand.

This year's festival, running from September 2 to September 12, will open with the premiere of Danny Boyle's "Ink," a drama focusing on media magnate Rupert Murdoch. The festival will conclude on September 12 with the Italian costume drama "Dio ride (God Laughs)." Maggie Gyllenhaal will lead the main competition jury, joined by filmmakers Kaouther Ben Hania, Xavier Giannoli, Shahrbanoo Sadat, Johnnie To, composer Daniel Blumberg, and critic Francesco Casetti.

Other notable attendees expected at the festival include stars like Robert Pattinson, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Pamela Anderson, Sam Rockwell, John Malkovich, and Ellen Burstyn, who is also receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award. Noel and Liam Gallagher are also anticipated for the promotion of their documentary "Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger."

The couple's presence at the festival follows an incident in late July where wildfires in southern France forced them to evacuate their home in Brignoles. Clooney had expressed his commitment to the community in a letter to the mayor, stating their intention to support the town's recovery.
