BBC Radio 1 presenter Gemma Cairney has given birth to her second child, announcing the news via Instagram on Sunday. Cairney, 41, and her partner Cameron McAllister welcomed the new addition to their family last week. The couple, who are already parents to a child born in August 2024, shared photos of the newborn and McAllister in hospital scrubs.

Cairney posted on social media, expressing her love for McAllister and describing their new family as a "miracle." She added a note about her post-birth state, humorously mentioning "restful ecstasy and a multitude of painkillers."

Celebrity friends, including Davina McCall, Fearne Cotton, and Paloma Faith, offered congratulations to the couple.

In April, Cairney had announced her pregnancy by sharing a photo of her baby bump on Instagram. She had previously announced the birth of her first child in August 2024, describing the experience as "the best madness, blessings, bliss, breathes, prayers, tears & momentous delirium" and expressing an unprecedented level of love.

Cairney met her partner Cameron McAllister in Malawi, where he sources beans for his independent coffee project. Cairney began her broadcasting career at Kiss FM and Channel 4 Radio before moving to the BBC, joining Radio 1Xtra in 2008. She has hosted events such as Glastonbury and had her own weekday afternoon show in 2011. The Birmingham-born presenter, who is now based in Scotland, has also produced radio documentaries and launched a production company.
