Country singer Gavin Adcock closed a Thursday night concert in Independence, Missouri, by leading the crowd in chants of "Charlie Kirk" and urging attendees to pray following the fatal shooting of the conservative activist.

Adcock performed at Cable Dahmer Arena and posted a video of the concert's final moments to Instagram. In the footage he is shirtless, wearing a cowboy hat and jeans, holding an American flag as he led the audience in the chant and offered a benediction. "Jesus loves every single one of you in this place tonight. Charlie Kirk's with Jesus," Adcock said onstage, asking the crowd to say thoughts and prayers for those affected.

In an Instagram caption accompanying the video, Adcock wrote that he had not met Kirk but called anyone who "loves Jesus" a friend. He said Kirk's "outspoken beliefs were not silenced 2 days ago. His voice is now stronger than ever and will make an impact for centuries," and added the Bible verse Psalms 97:10: "You who love the LORD, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked."

Authorities have said Charlie Kirk, 31, the founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot Sept. 10 while speaking at an event in Orem, Utah. Friday morning, law enforcement announced an arrest in the case. Tyler Robinson, 22, was taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily harm and obstruction of justice, according to a court affidavit. A judge ordered Robinson held without bail, and formal charges were expected to be filed early next week.

Kirk's killing prompted widespread denunciations of political violence from public figures across the political spectrum. Celebrities and commentators called for calm and for thorough investigations into the circumstances of the shooting. Adcock's public tribute came amid that national conversation, reflecting how the incident has reverberated through political and entertainment circles.

Fox News Digital reached out to representatives for Adcock for additional comment. Adcock closed his Instagram post and his onstage remarks by urging listeners to stand up for their beliefs and to offer prayers for anyone who is hurting, and he thanked attendees for a safe trip home as the show ended.
