Fox News Channel on Wednesday announced a revamped weekend programming lineup that will take effect Sept. 20–21 as the network reshuffles shows, expands an ensemble program and reassigns a long-running media analyst.
The changes will debut with "Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany" at 10 a.m. ET on Sept. 20 and the launch of "The Sunday Briefing," a new Sunday program at 11 a.m. ET beginning Sept. 21 featuring senior White House correspondents Peter Doocy and Jacqui Heinrich rotating as weekly solo anchors. "The Big Weekend Show," the network said, will expand to three hours on both Saturdays and Sundays at 5 p.m. ET and add hosts Johnny Joey Jones and Tomi Lahren to its ensemble. Griff Jenkins will join "FOX & Friends Weekend" as a third co-host alongside Rachel Campos-Duffy and Charlie Hurt.
Fox News Media President and Editor-in-Chief Jay Wallace framed the schedule changes as part of an effort to "expand and innovate our weekend programing," saying the new roster underscores the network’s "continued commitment to delivering incomparable coverage." Wallace said the additions and format shifts aim to bolster depth and expertise across news and opinion programming.
As part of the realignment, Howie Kurtz will step down as host of "MediaBuzz," which will air its final show on Sunday, Sept. 14, after 12 years in the 11 a.m. ET timeslot. Kurtz will transition to a political media analyst role at Fox News, where he will continue to provide commentary across platforms, host the "Media BuzzMeter" podcast and write for Fox News Digital.
"For more than a decade, Howie Kurtz has served as the lead authority for media coverage in cable news, and we look forward to continuing his smart analysis across our programming," Wallace said in a statement. Kurtz, reflecting on the program’s run, said, "I’m extraordinarily proud of the program, which was number one for over 12 years and built a loyal audience that liked our down-the-middle approach of contrasting viewpoints and tackling sensitive subjects, with great independence, but time marches on."
The new "Saturday in America" will offer a "comprehensive look at the headlines dominating the news cycle" with interviews across the political spectrum, Fox said. McEnany will continue as a co-host of the weekday program "Outnumbered" in addition to her new Saturday role. "The Sunday Briefing" will focus on the White House beat, covering President Donald Trump's national and international activity and issues affecting the administration; Doocy and Heinrich have covered the White House since 2021, the network noted.
The network also highlighted broader digital and platform growth as context for the realignment. Fox News Digital has recently reported leading metrics among news brands, and the company has been expanding its streaming and licensing initiatives, including a new streaming service and partnerships to extend reach across news, sports and entertainment.
Executives said the changes are intended to provide viewers with more consistent weekend coverage and a mix of news and opinion across the schedule. The network named Johnny Joey Jones and Tomi Lahren as two of the four co-hosts of the expanded "The Big Weekend Show," which will continue as an ensemble program.
Fox News said Joseph A. Wulfsohn of Fox News Digital contributed to the announcement. Brian Flood, a media editor/reporter for Fox News Digital, is listed as the reporter on the network’s release and provided contact information for story tips.
The adjustments mark one of several programming moves at cable news outlets as networks reassess weekend lineups to balance reporting, commentary and weekend viewership patterns. Fox News did not provide ratings projections tied to the new schedule but emphasized continuity of familiar personalities alongside newly expanded roles.
