Florence Pugh has indicated she is taking time to "stop and recharge," suggesting a potential hiatus from acting. The 30-year-old actress shared her desire to "slow down" in a recent interview with ELLE Spain, explaining that she has been overextending herself and needs to prioritize self-care to continue tackling demanding roles.

"Taking care of myself. It's that simple. Being able to breathe," Pugh told the publication. "For a long time, I've said I needed to slow down, but the truth is I never did. In the end, I was burning myself out. Now I'm dedicating more time to my family and friends. I need to recharge to keep tackling such demanding roles. So for me, success is having learned to stop."

Pugh has a significant number of film releases scheduled for the coming year, including roles in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," "Avengers: Doomsday," "Dune: Part Three," and "East Of Eden."

Personal Life and Past Struggles

Earlier this year, rumors circulated about Pugh's potential engagement to actor Finn Cole. She was photographed wearing a ring in February, further fueling speculation. The couple was first linked romantically in September 2024 after being seen leaving an after-party together, though they have not publicly confirmed their relationship. A source indicated in early 2024 that the pair were developing their relationship away from the public eye and considering marriage.

Pugh previously confirmed she was in a relationship in an October 2025 interview with Vogue, stating, "I am [in a relationship]. OK, so something that I resonate with is that I believe that if magic is real, then it's falling in love."

Last year, Pugh disclosed that she resorted to self-harm following a "breakdown" after a past relationship ended. Speaking on the Louis Theroux podcast, she recalled hiding emotional pain and anxieties from loved ones, feeling they were "weren't worthy." She described a period where she would "chop huge chunks out of her hands" while cooking, an action she has not repeated since. Pugh reflected that her body was in "full panic mode" and that these self-injurious acts were a way her body sought help. She acknowledged that such experiences can become normalized over time, leading to a gradual acceptance of unhealthy situations and treatment. Pugh and actor Zach Braff, her ex-partner of three years, split in 2022. She had previously commented on the backlash she faced regarding their 21-year age difference during their relationship.
