The BBC has unveiled the first teaser for the second series of "The Celebrity Traitors," featuring host Claudia Winkleman and a star-studded cast. The trailer shows celebrities including Maya Jama, James Blunt, and Richard E. Grant appearing apprehensive in what appears to be a church setting.
Among the contestants for the new season are Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Rob Beckett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Bella Ramsey, Ross Kemp, Sharon Rooney, Jerry Hall, Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Lycett, Joanna McNally, James Acaster, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. The cast also includes mathematician Hannah Fry, broadcaster Amol Rajan, Myha'la, Sebastian Croft, and King Kenny.
Details about the specific roles and eliminations in the new series are being kept under wraps. However, reports suggest a significant twist for the upcoming season, with a larger proportion of the 21 contestants potentially being designated as Traitors. Insiders have indicated that this shift in power dynamics has led to increased backstabbing and betrayal among the participants, differing from the first series where the original Traitors remained a consistent trio.
Filming for the second series began in May, and the BBC has reportedly increased security measures to prevent leaks about who the Traitors are. The first series of "The Celebrity Traitors," which concluded last October, saw Alan Carr win £87,500 for his chosen charity.
The show's production is said to be operating with a high level of secrecy, likened to the setup for "The Masked Singer," with sealed production rooms and limited access for staff.
