The BBC has released the first trailer for the highly anticipated second series of "The Celebrity Traitors," hosted by Claudia Winkleman. The debut teaser features a cast of well-known personalities, including Maya Jama, James Blunt, and Richard E. Grant, appearing distressed in what appears to be an eerie church setting.
The trailer shows Winkleman addressing the assembled celebrities, who include Miranda Hart, Rob Beckett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Bella Ramsey, Ross Kemp, and Sharon Rooney. Winkleman's remarks, such as "A moment of silence for the celebrities gathered today" and "Who doesn't love a dramatic exit," add to the suspense.
Key figures in the cast also include Maya Jama, Jerry Hall, Richard E. Grant, Romesh Ranganathan, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Ross Kemp, Bella Ramsey, and James Blunt. Comedians Rob Beckett, Joe Lycett, Joanna McNally, and James Acaster are also set to participate, as is Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock. The lineup is rounded out by mathematician Hannah Fry, broadcaster Amol Rajan, Coronation Street actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, prankster King Kenny, "Industry" star Myha'la, "Heartstopper" actor Sebastian Croft, and "My Mad Fat Diary" alumna Sharon Rooney.
Details about the new series are being kept under wraps, including the identities of the three individuals Winkleman will select as Traitors. Reports suggest that the production doubled its budget to accommodate the demands of the high-profile contestants.
Insiders have indicated that the new series features a significant twist, with a third of the 21 contestants potentially becoming Traitors. This approach is reportedly a departure from the first series, where the original Traitors remained a consistent group. This shift in the game's dynamics is said to have led to heightened levels of "backstabbing and betrayal."
The first series of "The Celebrity Traitors," which aired last October, saw Alan Carr and Cat Burns emerge as Traitors. Carr won £87,500 for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK. Filming for the second series began in May.
