First Image Released for 'The Other Bennet Sister' Christmas Special

The first image from "The Other Bennet Sister" Christmas special has been released, offering a glimpse of a romantic picnic scene. The special is a continuation of the BBC series inspired by Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice."

The series finale saw Mary Bennet, portrayed by Ella Bruccoleri, accept a marriage proposal from Tom Hayward, played by Donal Finn. Filming for the upcoming three-part Christmas special concluded at the end of October.

The first season of the show centered on Mary, the seemingly unremarkable middle Bennet daughter, as she navigated the societal expectations of Regency England. The series was primarily filmed in various locations across south Wales, including Merthyr Mawr in Bridgend county, the Gower peninsula, and Brecon in Powys.

The Christmas special is being produced by Cardiff-based Bad Wolf, with principal photography taking place over the summer months, also largely within Wales. Ruth Jones, known for her role in "Gavin & Stacey," is set to reprise her role as Mrs. Bennet, a character she previously described as "often quite cruel" to her daughter Mary.

Other returning cast members include Tanya Reynolds as Caroline Bingley and Laurie Davidson as Mr. Ryder. Varada Sethu will continue as Ann Baxter, Poppy Gilbert as Lizzie Darcy, Maddie Close as Jane Bingley, Grace Hogg-Robinson as Lydia Wickham, Molly Wright as Kitty Buncock, and Anna Fenton-Garvey as Charlotte Collins.

Nerys Amber-Stocks, who has appeared in "Out There" and "Mammoth," is joining the cast as Mary's housemaid, Lucy. Producer Edoardo Ferretti confirmed the wrap of filming for the special on social media, sharing on Instagram, "And yet another wrap! Every time emotional, every time proud. This one is going to be so special!"
