The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) has released its 2027 Calendar of Heroes, featuring 24 firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs. The unveiling event in Midtown drew a significant crowd, with attendees eager to purchase the calendars and meet the featured personnel.

Two versions of the calendar are available: one showcasing male models and another featuring female models. Proceeds from the $25 calendars will benefit the non-profit FDNY Foundation. Participants highlighted the importance of physical fitness and mental agility in their demanding roles.

Giovanni Cummings, a rescue medic featured in the women's calendar, emphasized the dual physical and mental demands of her job. "We're the ones firefighters call when they're down. We have to be the ones to have mental agility as well as physical, and my practice helps me to be that person," she stated. Cummings, from Station 32, believes highlighting fitness and wellness is crucial to FDNY life.

Battalion Chief Kevin White, the oldest individual featured at 55, appears on the March page of the men's calendar. White noted the importance of maintaining physical fitness for the mentally and physically demanding aspects of firefighting. "Being in shape and being physically fit to be a firefighter is one of the most important things for this job," he said.

Firefighter Zach Mellado, who is on the February cover of the men's calendar, echoed these sentiments. The 30-year-old, assigned to Engine 287, stressed the FDNY's focus on health and nutrition. "I try to cook a healthy meal and make sure the brothers are well-fed. I'm always keeping guys in check, making sure they keep me in check. Making sure we're doing the right thing and putting the work in the gym," Mellado commented. His mother, Tavia Trusch Mellado, expressed pride in his dedication.

The event also served as a meet-and-greet where the featured FDNY members distributed signed copies of the calendars. Attendees, like Elizabeth Trimarche from the Jersey Shore, expressed admiration for the firefighters. "They're very handsome!" she said.
