Fatboy Slim, also known as Norman Cook, concluded the Camp Bestival festival in Dorset on Sunday with a memorable performance, appearing in a costume resembling a giant bag of fish and chips.
During his set, the DJ amped up the energy by blowing on an airhorn, entertaining the crowd at the family-focused festival held at Lulworth Castle. The four-day event combines a camping experience with a variety of activities for families.
Cook's performance was part of a curated lineup for the final day, titled Fatboy Slim & Friends All Day Castle Stage takeover. This segment featured acts such as The Beat, Brooke Coombes, Fat Tony, and De La Soul.
Earlier in the festival, Joe Wicks, known as The Body Coach, led a "Wake Up & Workout" session on Friday, encouraging families to get active. He also participated in reading CBeebies Bedtime Stories at the event. Other family-friendly entertainment included appearances by Blippi, Mr Tumble, Dick n Dom, and a CBeebies Bedtime Story Read & Rave.
Reviews from festival attendees highlighted the event's family-friendly atmosphere and diverse attractions. Mark Beaumont of The Independent described Camp Bestival as "the ultimate in family friendly weekenders," noting attractions like craft grottoes, CBeebies meet-and-greets, and a large inflatable assault course.
The Bournemouth Daily Echo called the festival "unforgettable," while acknowledging that the "searing heat was undoubtedly a major issue for most festival goers." Clash Music commented on the festival's "silly. Cheeky. Communal" nature, emphasizing its role in creating positive childhood memories for families.
Festival curator Rob da Bank expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, "What a ridiculously fun and sun kissed weekend we've had, bringing families together in proper Camp Bestival style." He noted that "30,000 revellers get stuck in to so many activities, dancing to the beats and bands, getting arty and active with their families." Plans for the following year were also announced, with Early Bird Weekend Tickets for Camp Bestival by Debenhams set to go on sale on August 7th for the July 29th – August 1st, 2027 dates.
