The family of actor Josh Grisetti, who died by suicide at age 44, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover final arrangements and provide support. As of Wednesday, the fundraiser had garnered over $32,000 in donations.

The family stated that the campaign was created in response to inquiries about how to support Grisetti's wife and family during their difficult time. "Your generosity allows us to focus entirely on grieving and supporting one another rather than navigating administrative strain," they said.

Grisetti was described by his relatives as "a luminous force across Broadway, television, film, and academia" who left "an indelible imprint on the global creative community." His family noted that any funds remaining after covering end-of-life expenses will be donated to the Entertainment Community Fund (ECF). The ECF provides a safety net for performing arts professionals, offering services such as mental health support tailored to the pressures of the arts industry.

His death was announced on Sunday by his friend and colleague Rob McClure, who shared the news on Instagram. "It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday," McClure wrote. "I’m not ready to even attempt to understand. My heart is with his wife and family as they try to deal with the reality of this."

McClure remembered Grisetti as a key figure in various communities, calling his passing "a cataclysmic loss." He shared personal memories of working with Grisetti for years and witnessing his impact on students and colleagues at California State University, Fullerton, where Grisetti led the Musical Theatre program.

Grisetti's representative, Rick Ferrari, told the Daily Mail that the actor was a "tremendous talent" who "shared his gift with everyone who wanted it." Ferrari added that Grisetti's students were "stunned and heartbroken."

Fans and peers have paid tribute to Grisetti, remembering him as a kind and talented individual. Erika Henningsen, who worked with Grisetti on the musical Diner, expressed her grief, stating, "I just loved you. I wish you were still here. Thank you for changing my life. For making me believe in myself."

Grisetti was known for his role as Ralph Emerson in eight episodes of "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" in 2023. His television credits also include appearances on "The Knights of Prosperity," "Nurse Jackie," and "The Good Fight." On Broadway, he performed in productions such as "Broadway Bound" and "Something Rotten!" He also had Off-Broadway credits in "Rent" and "After the Ball," among others. His film work included "The Namesake" and "Revolutionary Road."

In addition to his acting career, Grisetti was an educator, leading the Musical Theatre program at California State University, Fullerton. He had previously taught at Loyola Marymount University and Fullerton College. Grisetti, who resided in Southern California, grew up in Virginia and studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the Boston Conservatory.

His final Instagram post thanked the cast of "Legally Blonde: The Musical" in Italy for a tribute they performed for him as he departed the production for personal reasons. He expressed his gratitude for the gesture, noting how such "little gestures go a long way when your heart is hurting."

Grisetti is survived by his wife, Mackenzie, to whom he had been married for six years.
