Lachlan Rofe, a participant on the debut season of Married At First Sight and later on Farmer Wants A Wife, died suddenly this week, and a woman who says she dated him has posted a series of allegations of violence, drug use and cosmetic surgery following the news of his passing.

In a TikTok recording that circulated on social media, the woman identified as Beth Dutton said she was in a six-month relationship with Rofe after his appearance on Married At First Sight in 2015 and before his appearance on Farmer Wants A Wife in 2016. She accused him of physically assaulting her, of using methamphetamine and of undergoing extensive cosmetic procedures.

"He choked me, he sat on my chest, he threw beer in my face. He was absolutely vicious," Beth said in the video, which was shared after loved ones confirmed Rofe’s death and tributes appeared on social media. She also accused him of heavy drinking and of later becoming a methamphetamine user, saying a friend’s wife told her he began using the drug after they split.

Beth claimed Rofe — who also used the surname McAleer publicly — misrepresented elements of his life, including his age and family status. "One thing I want to clear up is he's not 47, he's about 51," she said, adding that he was "a very, very insecure man" who attempted to mask signs of aging. She alleged he had liposuction, a tummy tuck and a nose job. "Good riddance," she concluded in the video, saying she was relieved he could no longer "hurt another woman."

A New South Wales Police statement said emergency services were called to a Razorback home on Saturday, where they found a man unresponsive. Ambulance paramedics commenced CPR but were unable to revive him. "Investigations are continuing into the circumstances and anyone with any information is urged to contact Camden Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," the statement said.

Rofe, a cattle farmer who lived on a property in Cawdor near Camden, attracted public attention during and after his television appearances. He first appeared on Channel Nine’s Married At First Sight in 2015, paired with Clare Tamas, and later featured on Farmer Wants A Wife in 2016. Friends and former colleagues posted tributes on social media after his death.

Rofe’s public record includes a 2017 incident in which he was found guilty of assaulting his then-girlfriend, Casey Williams, in front of her two-year-old daughter after a night of heavy drinking. He was placed on a 12-month good-behaviour bond; the conviction was later overturned on appeal. At the time, he told media he had sought to clear his name and said the episode had left him shaken.

He was linked in the media to several other high-profile figures, including Farmer Wants A Wife contestant Belinda Reid and pig hunter Natalie Cepeniuk. He also faced scrutiny in 2016 when his family’s property was investigated for alleged illegal tree-clearing, a matter he denied, saying any clearing complied with legislation.

The allegations made by Beth Dutton in her TikTok remain unconfirmed by police or other independent sources. Police have not publicly linked the allegations to the ongoing death investigation and have not released a cause of death. Investigations by NSW Police are continuing.

Rofe’s television appearances and subsequent controversies had kept him in the public eye since his initial broadcast on reality television. Media coverage of his death has included remembrances from acquaintances alongside renewed reporting of past incidents and accusations.

Anyone with information about the circumstances of the death has been asked by police to contact Camden Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
