Eva Mendes, 51, made a rare public appearance Tuesday when she was photographed running errands in the Notting Hill area of London, her first sighting in roughly six months.
The actress, who has kept a low profile over the last year, shielded her face with a baseball cap and went makeup-free as she picked up shopping. She wore a khaki, oversized sweater dress paired with tan knee-high leather boots and carried a large shoulder bag.
Mendes was last publicly pictured in March when she celebrated her 51st birthday by sharing a campaign image for designer Stella McCartney. In that post, Mendes praised McCartney and wrote that she had "never felt sexier" in the designer's cruelty-free clothes, adding that she was missing the designer's Paris Fashion Week show because she was celebrating with family.
Before the March campaign image, Mendes' previous public outing was a low-key lunch in Beverly Hills in December. Mendes is married to actor Ryan Gosling; the couple met in August 2011 while filming the crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines and have two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada.
Mendes, who first rose to wide attention with a role in the 2001 film Training Day, has in recent months addressed aging and cosmetic treatments in interviews. Speaking to The Times in October, she said she was open to reversible procedures, noting, "I'm not afraid to try things that are safe, because most of these little treatments, let's say, are reversible." She added, "If you get Botox, it goes away if you don't like it. There have been times where I've regretted something… and then you just wait it out." Mendes has also said she is "all for" cosmetic surgery after facing criticism over past denials of having work done.
The Notting Hill sighting continues a pattern of selective public appearances by Mendes, who has balanced a lower public profile with occasional professional projects and personal milestones. Photographs from Tuesday show a casual, understated look as she carried out routine errands away from red carpets and fashion shows.
