Big 7 Travel has released its annual list of the 25 best summer food festivals in Europe, offering a guide for travelers seeking culinary experiences. The ranking was compiled by evaluating festivals based on the quality and distinctiveness of local cuisine, atmosphere, visitor experience, location accessibility, and reputation.
Topping the list at number one is the Cork on a Fork Festival in Cork, Ireland. This five-day event in August features over 150 activities, including food history tours, street food stalls, and interactive workshops. Also recognized is Copenhagen Cooking in Denmark, which celebrates both Danish and global cuisine with a focus on apples this year. France's Fête de l'Ail Rose, dedicated to pink garlic from the Lautrec region, secured the third spot.
Portugal features prominently with the Sardine Festival in Portimão, noted as Europe's largest sardine celebration, and Alma do Vinho near Lisbon, a wine festival offering tastings and traditional activities. Spain's O Carballiño Octopus Festival, known for preparing vast quantities of octopus, is also included in the top rankings.
Among the notable entries, Big Feastival in Oxfordshire, England, co-founded by Jamie Oliver and Blur bassist Alex James, ranked seventh. The festival is praised for its combination of Michelin-starred chefs, street food, and live music performances.
