Ethan Slater has playfully referenced the reality dating show "Love Island" in a new Instagram post. This comes shortly after reports surfaced that his ex-girlfriend, Ariana Grande, has rekindled her relationship with former boyfriend Ricky Alvarez.
In a clip shared on Wednesday to promote his role in "Little Shop of Horrors," Slater, 34, mouthed along to the "Love Island" narrator, saying, "This week a hot new bombshell enters the villa." The camera then panned to his "Little Shop of Horrors" co-star Betsy Wolfe, who posed in a leopard print dress. The pair captioned the video, "This flower shop runs on good vibes and bombshells."
It was reported last month that Slater and Grande had decided to end their relationship after three years. A source described the breakup as amicable, stating that the singer and the "Wicked" co-star remain friends.
Grande has reportedly reconnected with Ricky Alvarez, whom she dated previously. The couple have been seen together in recent weeks, including at a Fourth of July celebration with Grande's family. According to TMZ, they are officially back together but are "taking things slow." A source told People that Grande is "happy to have him back in her life" and appreciates his "great, positive energy."
Grande appeared to confirm the reconciliation during her "Eternal Sunshine" tour. During a recent concert in Brooklyn, she altered the lyrics of her song "Thank U, Next." The original line, "Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh," was changed to, "Wrote some songs about Ricky / We always find our way back." Earlier in the tour, she sang, "Wrote some songs about Ricky / I know he's still got my back."
Grande and Alvarez first met around 2015 when he worked as a backup dancer on her "Honeymoon" tour. She confirmed their relationship in 2016, but they reportedly split after about a year of dating.
Grande's representative has not yet commented on the reports. Slater's "Little Shop of Horrors" performances are ongoing.
