Emily Ratajkowski has signed a seven-figure deal with Penguin Press for a new collection of personal essays, tentatively titled "Motherf*cker." The book is described as an examination of modern female identity through the lens of Ratajkowski's experiences as a single mother in New York City.
The 35-year-old model and author announced the forthcoming tome on Instagram, sharing a synopsis from Publishers Marketplace. This marks Ratajkowski's second book; her debut collection, "My Body," was published in 2021 and became a New York Times bestseller.
"My Body" explored themes of the modeling industry, feminism, and the female form. The new collection, "Motherf*cker," is expected to delve into similar territory, focusing on Ratajkowski's journey toward self-discovery as a newly single mother.
Ratajkowski's prior essay in The Cut, published last month, garnered attention for its frank discussions about her sex life following her divorce from Sebastian Bear-McClard. In the essay, she detailed her shift in identity and exploration of her sexuality after the dissolution of her marriage. She and Bear-McClard were married from 2018 to 2022, welcoming their son, Sylvester, in 2021.
According to Deadline, Ratajkowski's latest book deal resulted from a 12-way bidding war among publishers. In addition to her writing projects, Ratajkowski is also involved in a forthcoming Apple TV series. She is slated to contribute to the show, which also explores themes of female identity and motherhood, as both an actress and screenwriter. The series is being developed in collaboration with author Stephanie Danler, with Lena Dunham serving as executive producer.
