Emily Atack is reportedly hesitant to sign on for a potential Inbetweeners reboot, stemming from her exclusion from the show's previous reunion films. A source told The Sun that Atack is still "absolutely furious" about being left out of the earlier productions, impacting her current decision-making process.
According to reports from 2019, Atack was allegedly not included in the reunion films after co-star James Buckley issued an ultimatum, reportedly stating "it's her or me." This was rumored to be due to a past romantic connection between Atack and Buckley, with Buckley concerned about potential issues with his wife. Atack's stance is reportedly one of "Why do you want me now when I wasn't good enough then?"
While the four main actors—Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley, and Blake Harrison—have reportedly agreed to star in a third Inbetweeners movie for Netflix, producers are also keen for Atack to reprise her role as Charlotte 'Big Jugs' Hinchcliffe. However, the source noted that Atack's current commitments, including her Disney series "Rivals" and a new BBC program titled "Reputation," could also make it challenging to commit to a new film, with potential filming leading to a 2027 release.
Atack herself has previously expressed uncertainty about a return, telling Capital FM that they would all be significantly older. She recalled filming the original series at 17, while the male leads were in their late twenties and early thirties.
In separate news, James Buckley recently revealed he is at high risk for cardiovascular incidents due to a genetic condition involving high Lipoprotein(a), a type of blood cholesterol that can accelerate plaque buildup in arteries. Buckley shared this after being hospitalized for severe dehydration, with his blood tests highlighting the genetic risk. He has since been seen filming for Harlan Coben's Netflix drama "The Woods."
