Ellie Goulding, 39, has seemingly offered insight into her relationship with boyfriend Beau Minniear, 29, in her new song "4 Seasons," hinting that she fell for him despite his past. The lyrics suggest a departure from her usual trust in partners, with lines like, "No I don't usually trust guys like you / But right now I don't care." The song was released months after reports detailed Minniear's criminal record.

Minniear, an actor, was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida, in 2018. He faced charges including robbery without a firearm, felony battery resulting in serious bodily injury, and marijuana possession. According to police documents, Minniear and two others were involved in an altercation where a 36-year-old man reported being assaulted and robbed of his wallet. The victim, who was homeless at the time, sustained a fractured elbow and a bleeding nose.

Minniear was found with seven grams of marijuana. He admitted to misdemeanor battery as part of a plea deal and was granted probation and ordered to pay $675 in costs in November 2018.

The current relationship marks a contrast to Goulding's previous marriage to art dealer Caspar Jopling. They married in 2017 and divorced in 2024. Jopling, who has a reported net worth of £6.3 million, studied at Oxford and Harvard and was a member of the Great Britain rowing team. The couple shared a five-year-old son, Arthur, during their marriage.

Goulding's romantic life has often been a subject in her music. Her new single "4 Seasons" appears to chronicle the early stages of her romance with Minniear, the father of her four-month-old daughter. The song mentions the lavish Four Seasons Hotel in Florence, where suites can cost upwards of £5,575 per night.
