Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" has tied a significant record on the Billboard Hot 100, marking its 14th week at the No. 1 position. This achievement places the country ballad alongside iconic hits like Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" for the most weeks at the top among non-holiday titles by women without male-billed acts.
Langley, 27, described the milestone as "insane" in a social media post. The song first reached the top of the Hot 100 in February and has maintained its position since. "Choosin' Texas" also now ties Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for the second-longest charting hit overall.
Langley's rise in country music began nearly a decade ago with her debut studio album, "Hungover," released in 2024. That album produced hits such as "You Look Like You Love Me" and "Weren't for the Wind," both of which reached No. 1 on the country charts. Her sophomore release, "Dandelion," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April.
In addition to its Hot 100 success, "Choosin' Texas" recently made Langley the first female artist to simultaneously top the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts. The title track of her latest album, "Dandelion," was inspired by the resilient plant. Langley explained that the name reflected a process of self-discovery and learning from mistakes, viewing the album as a "love letter" to those experiences.
She also served as executive producer for "Dandelion" and co-wrote "Choosin' Texas" with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick, and JoyBeth Taylor.
