Elizabeth Hurley posted a photograph on Instagram Sunday showing her in a white bikini and writing that she was saying goodbye to what she called "the best summer." The 60-year-old actress’s post came after a summer she spent in England with partner Billy Ray Cyrus, 64, who Hurley said had been teaching her to play the guitar.
Hurley’s Instagram image showed her wearing a triangular bikini top and matching bottoms with gold chain detailing and sunglasses. She captioned the post, "Bye Bye to the best summer."
Hurley told Hello! magazine that she had spent the summer in England "for the first time ever" and that Cyrus had been trying to pass on musical skills to her, though she described her progress as "appalling". She said she hoped to improve. In an interview with The Mirror, Hurley said the relationship "feels nice" because Cyrus has been "very supportive."
Cyrus, best known for the 1992 hit "Achy Breaky Heart," spent his first UK summer at Hurley’s Herefordshire home, Donnington Hall, which the actress bought in 2012. The Georgian estate is reported to have 13 bedrooms, five bathrooms and a lake. Hurley said the couple had attended London performances by Cyrus’s daughters, Miley and Noah, during the summer.
Hurley marked her 60th birthday in June at home with friends and family, she said, adding that her 23-year-old son Damian baked a cake for the occasion. She told Hello! that recent years have prompted her to spend more time at home and to choose acting projects more selectively so she is not away from family for long periods.
In the Mirror interview Hurley said she and Cyrus "have had most of the summer off," and described shared domestic pursuits, including adopting two tortoises and taking up bird watching. She said they had observed goshawks, which she called "very, very rare," and added: "I have a really interesting life. Wild. Parties every night."
Hurley and Cyrus previously appeared together in the 2022 film Christmas in Paradise; the exact date their romantic relationship began has not been publicly disclosed. Hurley bought Donnington Hall with then-fiancé Shane Warne, who died in March 2022.
Hurley has said she enjoys work and often finds a film set more relaxing than social life, but that she has tried to improve her work–life balance in recent years. The Instagram post and her recent interviews follow a summer of public appearances and family gatherings in the U.K. as the couple continued to spend time at Hurley’s country home.
