Edward Furlong, who gained international recognition at age 13 for his role as John Connor in 1991's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," is reportedly focused on sobriety and rebuilding his acting career. Furlong, who will celebrate his 49th birthday on Sunday, had no prior acting credits when he was cast alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton in the blockbuster film.

Following "Terminator 2," Furlong appeared in "American History X" in 1998, but his career began to decline thereafter. He publicly struggled with addiction and entered rehabilitation for the first time in 2000. His battle with substance abuse, particularly crystal methamphetamine, led to legal troubles and health concerns, with images of his struggles circulating widely.

Furlong has spoken about his efforts to reclaim his life and career, with reports indicating he has been sober for some time. In 2022, he underwent dental work, receiving veneers. He also shared in 2024 that he had restarted his acting career, appearing in films such as "The Forest Hills" and "Unspeakable: Beyond the Wall of Sleep." He noted the positive experience of returning to set while sober and interacting with other sober individuals.

Recently, Furlong was seen in Los Angeles, where he visited a grocery store and purchased food from a street vendor. He was dressed in a black t-shirt, aviator sunglasses, and brown pants.

Furlong was previously scheduled to attend the Melbourne Metro Comic Con in Australia on July 18-19, alongside fellow "Terminator" veteran Linda Hamilton. However, an announcement from the convention organizers stated that Furlong was unable to make his flight due to unforeseen circumstances and would not be attending. The organizers conveyed his disappointment and his assurance that he hopes to visit Australia in the future.
