EastEnders Actress Sophie Khan Levy Announces Pregnancy Alongside Character's Exit
Sophie Khan Levy, who played Priya Nandra-Hart, revealed her pregnancy in a farewell video as her character departed the BBC soap opera.
EastEnders star Sophie Khan Levy, 37, has announced her pregnancy, coinciding with her character Priya Nandra-Hart's permanent exit from the BBC soap opera. The news was shared in a goodbye video released by the show, in which the heavily pregnant actress showcased her baby bump.
In the video, Khan Levy expressed her gratitude to the fans and viewers, stating, "I’ve been so proud and happy to be part of this family for three years. I can't believe I have to leave, but I do because there's something coming imminently." She reflected on her time on the show, noting, "It doesn’t feel like that long. And it also feels like forever. Thank you for having me and let’s see… watch this space. Who knows if Priya will make a return?"
Khan Levy had not previously posted about her pregnancy or revealed her partner's identity. Fans shared their sadness at her departure, with comments expressing surprise and well wishes for her future, with some hoping for a return to Walford.
Within the EastEnders storyline, Priya Nandra-Hart had been involved in a secret affair with Max Branning (Jake Wood), which led to her becoming pregnant. Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) discovered a hidden DNA test confirming Max as the father. Subsequently, Cindy blackmailed Priya, who is the estranged ex-partner of Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara), into leaving Albert Square immediately. Priya declined Ravi's offer to help raise their child and departed for Leeds to start anew.
Sophie Khan Levy joined EastEnders in 2023 and quickly became a popular character. The BBC EastEnders official Twitter account also marked her departure, stating, "Sophie Levy Khan’s final day on EastEnders was an emotional one.
