Earth, Wind & Fire abruptly postponed their scheduled performance at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Thursday night, citing a "medical emergency involving a member of our band." The show was set to take place with Lionel Richie.
The band announced the postponement via an Instagram statement minutes before the concert was to begin. They have not disclosed further details about the specific band member affected or the nature of the emergency.
A San Francisco Fire Department representative informed TMZ that emergency services responded to a "cardiac incident" at the venue. The patient was transported to a local hospital in "critical condition."
This unexpected change has led to the rescheduling of the San Francisco date, with a new date to be announced. The band has advised attendees on procedures for ticket refunds or holding onto tickets for the rescheduled event. "We sincerely apologize for the unexpected change and appreciate everyone’s understanding," the statement read.
The "Sing a Song All Night Long" tour, which features Earth, Wind & Fire co-headlining with Lionel Richie, is scheduled to continue with its next stop in Palm Desert, California, on Saturday. The tour will also include subsequent performances in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Austin.
Lionel Richie previously experienced a health scare that caused a concert cancellation in June.
