On the second day of their four-day official visit to Japan, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh continued their engagements in Tokyo. Sophie, 60, stepped out in a printed silk dress for appearances at the Ukraine Mental Health Exchange Center Tokyo and later at the Nezu Museum, while her husband, Prince Edward, 61, joined other engagements around the capital.
The dress, a Dolce Vita Silk Twill Shirt Dress by Suzanna London, was originally priced at £2,190 and is currently on sale at £1,314. It features three-quarter sleeves, a self-tie belt, side pockets, and silk-covered buttons. The duchess paired the look with a large cream clutch and pointed pumps, and her blonde hair was styled in a chic low ponytail with natural makeup and a pink lip.
At the Ukraine Mental Health Exchange Center Tokyo’s Shibuya Himawari and Kokorogoto Cafe, the non-profit organization supports Ukrainian refugees and evacuees living in Japan, with more than 1,500 refugees registered. While visiting, Sophie participated in a calligraphy language workshop, engaged with attendees, and took part in creating artwork and sharing tea. The center offers a range of services, including group counseling, individual consultations, and social gatherings aimed at easing displacement and isolation for those arriving in Japan.
Later in the day, the duchess visited the Nezu Museum in Minato City, Tokyo, where she toured the gardens, viewed exhibits, and met museum head Koichi Nezu and his wife Mihoko. The Nezu Museum houses roughly 7,600 works spanning pre-modern Japanese and East Asian art, including several Japanese National Treasures. The institution was established to preserve Nezu Kaichiro’s collection and to share it with the public, reflecting a long-standing cultural link between the royal family and Japan’s art world.
The day’s schedule followed a day earlier when the couple attended a sumo match at Ryogoku Kokugikan. The pair were photographed in a box behind the ringside stands as thousands of fans filled the arena, a setting that underscored the royals’ ongoing public role amid a packed itinerary. In Tokyo, Sophie’s wardrobe choices drew attention, including a later outfit noted in accompanying captions as a Valentino midi shirt dress worn for another engagement during the trip, paired with nude pumps and a bejeweled clutch. The day highlighted the breadth of the tour—from charitable and cultural engagements to traditional sport—reflecting the couple’s broad-appeal, soft diplomacy approach.
The royal couple arrived in Japan on Sept. 18 and are scheduled to depart on Sept. 22, part of a four-day program that has included meetings with Ukrainian and Japanese officials, cultural exhibits, and state-level receptions. The visit comes ahead of the Grand Sumo Tournament’s return to the United Kingdom in October, when events are planned for the Royal Albert Hall, underscoring the cross-cultural exchange at the heart of the trip.
