Dua Lipa attended the New York City launch for Mark Ronson’s new book Tuesday evening, arriving in an outfit that included leather trousers, a fluffy jacket and a visible black lace bra, and joining the DJ and producer as he discussed his memoir NIGHT PEOPLE: How to Be a DJ in ’90s New York City.

Ronson, who appears in the book to recount his early years in music, used the event to reflect on a teenage meeting with Michael Jackson that he says he has reconsidered in light of later abuse allegations against the late pop star. Ronson, 50, said he was 13 when he was introduced to Jackson and attended a hotel afterparty, and wrote that while he found nothing "untoward" that night, the later allegations prompted him to revisit the memory many times.

At the book launch, Ronson spoke to attendees and mingled with guests, including his mother, Ann Dexter-Jones. The party drew a mix of industry figures and friends; Ronson wore a 1970s-inspired beige shirt and grey trousers during the evening. Dua Lipa, 30, and Ronson chatted at the event; she completed her look with a chunky gold belt and hoop earrings.

In NIGHT PEOPLE, Ronson recounts being introduced to Jackson by Sean Lennon and attending Jackson’s Bad-era concert and a subsequent hotel party. He wrote that the encounter—partly remembered for Jackson’s prank of throwing damp toilet paper out of a window—has been re-examined in his mind since allegations against Jackson surfaced publicly. Jackson faced multiple allegations of child sexual abuse over the years, was tried and acquitted in 2005, and died in 2009.

The launch provided an opportunity for Ronson to promote the book and for guests to hear him speak about the music scene he depicts. Ronson has worked as a producer and collaborator with artists across genres; he and Dua Lipa have collaborated on songs including "Dance the Night," featured on the Barbie soundtrack.

Outside of the book event, the evening’s social buzz touched on developments in Dua Lipa’s personal life. The singer publicly confirmed her engagement to actor Callum Turner in June, and tabloid reports in recent weeks said the couple are looking for a £9 million property in Spain, with possible locations cited as Marbella or elsewhere in Andalucia. Reports also say the pair have set up a film production company called TwentyTwo Films, listed as engaged in motion picture and programme production activities and said to be equally held by both.

Representatives for those involved were approached for comment at the time of the reporting. Ronson’s memoir is positioned as a look at DJ culture and nightlife in 1990s New York, and the launch brought together friends and collaborators to mark its release.
