Drew Barrymore recently penned a touching tribute to her longtime friend Cameron Diaz, sharing what she believes is the secret to their enduring relationship: reciprocity. The pair, who met as teenagers and later starred together in the Charlie's Angels films, have maintained a close bond for decades.

Barrymore took to Instagram to share a series of photos with Diaz, reflecting on their friendship. "She's been there for me in good and bad times," Barrymore wrote in a caption accompanying the images. "That's my why. Hey @camerondiaz, I love you."

The sentiment of mutual support was echoed by Diaz herself in an April appearance on Barrymore's talk show. When Barrymore expressed surprise at not being abandoned by her friends, Diaz interjected, "Because you are a great friend. You're a great friend back. It's reciprocated."

Their long-standing connection was further detailed when Diaz sent Barrymore a video tribute for her 50th birthday last year. Diaz recounted 37 years of shared experiences, praising Barrymore's authenticity, resilience, and capacity for love and compassion. "I have always been in awe of your ability to stay true to yourself and your authenticity and your resilience," Diaz said in the video.

Barrymore recalled their meeting in 2021 during an Instagram Live session, stating, "We met when I was 14 and she was 16. I was working at a coffee house and she was a junior model." She also humorously described their communication method as sending each other videos of themselves getting dressed and dancing.

Beyond their personal friendship, Barrymore and Diaz collaborated on screen in the 2000 film Charlie's Angels and its 2003 sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Barrymore's production company, Flower Films, is reportedly attached to an upcoming Charlie's Angels project.

Diaz has been gradually re-entering the public eye, with upcoming film roles in Back In Action (2025) and Outcome (2026). She and her husband, Benji Madden, also recently welcomed their third child, a son named Nautas.
