Dorinda Medley has found a new platform in radio, co-hosting Reality Checked with Kiki Monique on Sirius XM's Radio Andy. The show began airing earlier this year to mark the channel's 10-year anniversary and covers the latest in reality TV, from recaps to interviews with the stars.
Medley said she was "a little nervous" to team up with Monique, wondering, "Is this going to work?" They soon learned they shared a strong connection as Sagittarian women, which Medley described as "almost tribal" in their love of conversation and analysis. "Sagittarian women are almost tribal in the way that they love to be together and talk and discuss and dissect," Medley said. "So for us, it’s great." Monique added a playful note about the station's energy, joking that the duo might outpace even Andy Cohen or Jeff Lewis in their own post-show shenanigans.
The two already had chemistry, having previously worked together on DailyMail TV, where the format paired two hosts across a four-day-a-week schedule. Medley recalled the evolution of their collaboration, noting that DailyMail TV spent five days a week with a rotating host lineup before shifting to a four-day format that paired two strong women. She described Kiki as bringing an inquisitive, legal, journalistic mindset while Medley brings a wacky reality background, calling their partnership a balance of complementary ingredients that can be described as a cake with well-matched layers.
Kiki said they balance each other out, but they’ve discovered many similarities as they work together and even become friends. Monique described their dynamic as unexpectedly seamless, adding that their bond has a rhythm that translates well on-air. Medley echoed the sentiment, explaining that the Sagittarian connection aids them as they navigate differing viewpoints while maintaining a shared enthusiasm for pop culture moments.
The conversation turned to what makes Reality Checked tick beyond the daily headlines. Monique joked about the studio atmosphere and the possibility of fellow hosts showing up hungover, saying Dorinda and she might have to one-up anyone else with their own loose, spirited energy. It’s a reflection of the show’s tone: candid, witty, and anchored in real-time reality TV moments rather than scripted hot takes.
Both hosts discussed dream guests they’d love to interview. Monique said she’s long wanted to chat with Howard Stern, explaining she’s been a talk radio listener since childhood and would simply ask, "Can we be friends?" Medley offered a different fantasy guest, Andy Cohen, and playfully pressed what she would ask him: "Why did you put me on pause?" The banter underscores how Reality Checked blends entertainment talk with candid, unvarnished conversation about the people behind reality television.
Reality Checked airs weekdays at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT on Sirius XM’s Radio Andy. The interview with Medley and Monique was conducted as part of Decider’s coverage of the Sirius XM milestone and has been edited for length and clarity.
