Freida Parton, sister of the late country music superstar Dolly Parton, has shared a heartfelt tribute following her sister's death at age 80. Freida described Dolly as a "superstar" to the world and her "Dolly Momma."
In a Facebook post, Freida recounted childhood memories, including Dolly climbing into bed with her when they were afraid of the dark. She also shared that Dolly stepped in to raise her from ages 13 to 18 and playfully recalled Dolly's attempts to get her to wear her wigs on stage at Dollywood.
Freida acknowledged that, like many sisters, their relationship included disagreements. However, she emphasized that despite the "highs and lows, and all the laughter and tears," her love for Dolly never wavered.
She asked for prayers for herself and her family as they navigate what she called an "insurmountable loss." Freida stated that no one could replace Dolly in their hearts and expressed belief that Dolly would want her to continue sharing the love her sister gave freely.
Dolly Parton died last Tuesday at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer. A source confirmed to Page Six that the country music icon was laid to rest over the weekend in Nashville next to her husband, Carl Dean, who died in March.
According to a source, Dolly's funeral was a simple ceremony, adhering to her wishes. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, who was in charge of arrangements, had previously revealed that Parton requested to be buried "in a beautiful bed of plush cotton."
