Dolly Parton skipped a Dollywood ceremony Wednesday celebrating the park’s new Night Flight Expedition ride, citing health issues. In a video shown at the event, Parton said she had a kidney stone that caused an infection and that a doctor advised she not travel and to take a few days to recover. She added that she would be there with fans in spirit.

A representative for Parton did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment about her absence. Dollywood's Night Flight Expedition is the park’s latest attraction, a ride that adds to the Tennessee complex's ongoing celebration of its 40-year run.

Parton has faced personal loss this year. In March, her husband of 60 years, Carl Dean, died at age 82. Parton posted an Instagram note thanking fans for prayers and sympathy and saying she and Carl had shared 60 years of love.

Two weeks after Carl Dean’s death, Parton surprised Dollywood Celebrity Theater guests during the theme park’s 40th anniversary celebration, telling the audience that she would always love them even as she mourned. She expressed gratitude for the support of family, friends, and fans.

During an appearance on Khloé Kardashian’s podcast, Parton discussed the impact of the loss on her work and plans. She said there are things she wanted to start but cannot pursue yet, planning to resume later, and that writing songs or launching new projects is on hold as she navigates her grief.

Night Flight Expedition is the latest in Dollywood's lineup of rides in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, underscoring the park’s ongoing evolution as Parton continues her public work alongside the attraction’s debut. The event drew attendees from the entertainment industry and fans celebrating Dollywood’s ongoing 40th anniversary.
