Dolly Parton made a surprise appearance on Wednesday at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, Tennessee, marking a public outing following recent health issues. The 80-year-old country music star addressed attendees, expressing her excitement for the new venture.

“I wanted to welcome all of you, we’re very excited about our truck stop,” Parton said, according to NewsChannel5. “I’ve spent my whole life traveling on the road, so anyway, I wanted to welcome you and say thanks.”

Parton, known for her humor, playfully referenced Buc-ee’s, a rival travel stop chain, and its beaver mascot. “Well, I couldn’t leave it to beavers. I had to throw my spurs in there myself,” she quipped, though she stated her intention was not to compete but to offer a comprehensive stop for travelers.

“We’re going to have everything you want or need,” she added. Parton described the travel stop as a place for “people hauling loads, hauling the family, or just passing through.”

This appearance comes after a period of disclosed health challenges. In September, Parton canceled an appearance at Dollywood due to kidney stones, stating doctors advised her to rest. That same month, she postponed her Las Vegas residency, “Dolly: Live in Las Vegas,” citing “health challenges” and the need for “a few procedures.”

More recently, in May, Parton confirmed the cancellation of her Las Vegas residency in a pre-recorded video, explaining it would take time to reach “stage performance level.” She reassured fans that she was responding well to treatments and improving daily, with assurances from medical professionals that her condition was treatable.

Despite these health setbacks, Parton’s presence at the travel stop opening signals her continued engagement with her business ventures. The "Jolene" singer has previously stated her commitment to recovery and returning to her performance schedule when able.
