Disney's "Ultimate Disney Fan Event," D23, brought hundreds of fans to the Anaheim Convention Center for a weekend of exclusive previews and announcements.
The event included a "live unboxing" of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow sword from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, a moment met with cheers from attendees.
High-profile reveals occurred at the nearby Honda Center during the Disney Entertainment Showcase. The cast for a new "X-Men" film was announced, including Inde Navarrette, Adam Driver, Christopher Abbott, and Maya Boyd. Additionally, a new Pixar project titled "Ghost Market" was previewed, and Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad performed new songs from the upcoming "Frozen 3" soundtrack.
Fans also experienced attractions and displays, such as a "Coco"-inspired attraction, a scale model of Walt Disney's miniature railroad, and performances by the glam rock band Mëtal Möuse playing Disney tunes. The convention's merchandise areas proved so popular that a virtual queue was implemented at 6 a.m. daily due to high demand.
On Sunday, the "Disney Legends" ceremony honored individuals who have significantly contributed to Disney's legacy. This year's honorees included Jerry Bruckheimer, Anne Hathaway, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dwayne Johnson, the Jonas Brothers, and former Disney CEO Bob Iger.
Further announcements included the reopening of the Carousel of Progress at Disney's Magic Kingdom in 2027. The attraction will feature updated voices from Bryan Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis, with a new 1980s-set scene.
