Los Angeles police found a decomposing body inside a 2023 Tesla registered to New York-born singer D4vd after a tow yard worker reported a foul odor, authorities said Monday.
Investigators discovered human remains stashed inside a bag in the car’s front trunk at an impound lot in Hollywood, according to local reports. The vehicle, which carries Texas license plates, had been at the tow yard for roughly five days before officers responded to the odor complaint, ABC7 and KABC reported.
Records show the 2023 Tesla is registered to David Anthony Burke, the 20-year-old Queens-born artist who performs as D4vd, best known for the songs “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide.” Police did not immediately identify the victim or release details about the cause of death as the probe remains active, news outlets reported.
Police said they were alerted after someone at the impound lot reported a strong, unpleasant odor coming from the vehicle. The remains were found after officers opened the car and located the bag inside the front trunk, authorities told local media. Los Angeles investigators are handling the case and have not disclosed further information about when or how the body entered the vehicle.
Burke has remained active on social media and is currently on tour, with a show scheduled in Minneapolis on Tuesday and a Los Angeles concert planned later this month. Representatives for the musician had not issued a statement about the incident as of Monday night.
Los Angeles authorities have not indicated any suspects or issued public appeals for witnesses in connection with the discovery. The department has said the investigation is ongoing and provided no additional details about the identity of the deceased or potential links to the registered owner of the vehicle.
The discovery prompted questions in online forums and among fans, but police cautioned that public information is limited while detectives follow investigative leads. Further updates are expected as officials continue processing the scene and reviewing the vehicle, tow yard records and other evidence.
