Davis Mallory, the former MTV reality star known for The Real World: Denver and multiple Challenge appearances, says he no longer identifies as gay and credits God with guiding him away from that lifestyle about a year ago.
In an Instagram video posted Monday from Arise House of Prayer and Worship in Hawaii, Mallory said he had lived the “gay lifestyle” for about 20 years and recalled coming out on The Real World as a gay Christian. “God really pulled me out of that lifestyle a year ago,” he said, recounting his conservative Christian upbringing and the family tensions that followed.
The crowd at the Hawaii event applauded as Mallory spoke, and he later performed his song Baptized for the audience.
During the clip, Mallory described dreams in which God showed him the spiritual warfare he faced and said those visions signaled that sin was undermining his life and identity.
On Sunday, Mallory posted a separate note on Instagram reiterating his stance, writing that “sinning in anyway is not his plan for us” and that following God’s design is the path toward righteousness.
Mallory’s reality-TV career includes The Real World: Denver (2006-07) and three Challenge seasons: The Inferno 3 (2007), The Duel II (2009), and Rivals (2011). He has spoken publicly about his coming-out story in past interviews, including a 2018 conversation with Out Magazine, where he described hoping to be a positive representation of being gay and a Christian and discussing the Bible’s stance on sexuality.
His remarks illuminate ongoing discussions about faith and identity within entertainment-industry circles. Mallory has also pursued music as a singer-songwriter, integrating his faith experiences into his public persona and performances.
