Davina McCall posted behind-the-scenes selfies from the National Television Awards on Wednesday after an evening of surprise wins and high-profile speeches at London’s O2 Arena.

The 57-year-old television presenter shared images of herself smiling alongside fellow The Masked Singer judge Maya Jama and a group photograph with her partner Michael Douglas, former Match of the Day host Gary Lineker, comedian Mo Gilligan and television producers Hannah Tomkins and Karen Moss. In her Instagram caption McCall thanked her hair and makeup teams and congratulated colleagues, writing: "What a fun night! Thank you @mdlondon for doing my hair and @victoriousmua for my make up !! Lovely to see you @mothecomedian and @garylineker (and congrats) @_hannahtomkins @karenmossrocks , love u @mayajama and thank you @officialntas ❤️."

McCall, who arrived on the red carpet posing for selfies with fans, wore a short-sleeved, high-collared mini gown by Annie Ibiza reported to cost £2,250, paired with black ankle boots. The awards, hosted by Joel Dommett for the ceremony’s 30th anniversary and televised on ITV1, are voted for by the public.

One of the evening’s most notable results saw Gary Lineker, 64, win Best Presenter, ending Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s 23-year run in the category. Lineker used his acceptance speech to address his recent departure from Match of the Day following criticism of an Instagram post he shared earlier in the year. After acknowledging the context of his win, he said it demonstrated "that perhaps it's OK sometimes to use our platform to speak up on behalf of those who have no voice." Lineker stepped down from Match of the Day in May after apologising for an Instagram post he shared that drew complaints and prompted his exit after 26 years.

This Morning reclaimed the Best Daytime award two years after losing to The Repair Shop, with presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley collecting the prize in what the show described as a humbling return. Strictly Come Dancing won Best Talent Show despite the programme’s off-screen controversies during the year; several of its regular hosts and judges were unable to attend because of recording commitments. Gavin & Stacey took Best Comedy after returning for a Christmas finale, with writers and cast members accepting the award onstage.

Jeremy Clarkson’s Clarkson’s Farm won in the factual entertainment category, and Clarkson made a brief onstage quip referencing his use of the weight-loss medication Mounjaro. Netflix’s Adolescence was named Best New Drama, and its teenage star Owen Cooper won Best Drama Performance for his portrayal of Jamie Miller. The ceremony also saw Michael McIntyre pick up the Entertainment Award for Michael McIntyre's Big Show, while The Chase was named Best Quiz Show.

Stacey Solomon, whose factual series Sort Your Life Out had been overlooked at this year’s BAFTAs, did not secure an NTA on Wednesday and also missed out in the Best Presenter category. The awards highlighted a mix of long-running favourites and recent hits across scripted and unscripted television, reflecting public votes rather than industry panels.

Hosts, nominees and winners referenced both on-screen achievements and off-screen events in their remarks, and the 30th-anniversary edition of the NTAs underscored the UK television industry’s current tensions and moments of renewal. The show closed with a roster of winners that included returning daytime staples, revived comedies and breakout scripted work, as the industry prepares for another year of programming and public voting ahead of the next ceremony.
