Davina McCall, 58, shared a mirror selfie on Instagram on Monday showcasing her physique in a pink string bikini. The television presenter, known for her commitment to fitness, captioned the image with "this is how I roll."
McCall's post comes after she recently spoke about the private support she received from comedian Peter Kay following her diagnoses of a brain tumor and breast cancer. She underwent surgery in 2024 to remove a benign tumor, and was diagnosed with breast cancer the following year.
McCall described how Kay, whom she did not know well prior to her illnesses, offered significant support. She recounted receiving a phone call from Kay while hospitalized for her brain tumor treatment, during which he offered his help. "He called me when I was in hospital with my brain tumour," McCall stated. "I really don't know him that well but he was unbelievably supportive."
She further revealed that Kay remained a source of support after her breast cancer diagnosis. "When I had my breast cancer diagnosis he just talked me through what to do," she said, recalling Kay's questions about her feelings and her desires for treatment. "He said: 'What do you want to do? How do you feel about it?' And he said: 'I think you know what you want to do'. And I was like: 'Yeah I want to talk about it.'"
McCall shared these reflections while accepting the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Edinburgh TV Festival. She also highlighted the role of her husband, Michael Douglas, as a pillar of strength during her health challenges. She explained that while the brain tumor had impacted their relationship due to her short-term memory loss, the breast cancer diagnosis helped them reconnect. "At the end of brain-tumour-gate, cancer brought us together," she said. "The tumour pushed us apart because I had no short term memory... But cancer smushed us back together in such a weird way, it was just a beautiful way for us to just reconnect and rebond."
McCall noted that she had caught the breast cancer early, leading to a full recovery after a lumpectomy. She recently completed her course of preventative radiotherapy. Despite these health battles, McCall stated she is not retiring but is stepping back from full-time work, viewing her diagnosis as a significant wake-up call.
McCall and Douglas were married in December at Marylebone Town Hall with close friends and family present, a ceremony that took place weeks after McCall revealed her breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery.
