The final resting place of former child star Daveigh Chase has been revealed in her death certificate, nearly a month after her passing. Chase, who died on June 16 at age 35, was cremated, and her ashes were given to her mother, Cathy Chase. Her remains will reside with her mother at her home in Chatsworth, California.
The certificate lists Chase's occupation as "actress/vocal artist," although she had not worked in recent years. Her death was attributed to AIDS, with chronic polysubstance abuse as an underlying condition. Previously, reports indicated her death was caused by meningitis and a blood infection that led to septic shock.
Chase was known for her roles as Lilo Pelekai in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" and Samara Morgan in "The Ring."
In the years leading up to her death, Chase was reportedly living on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles due to drug addiction. Her former manager, John Ryan, and her stepsister, Gaia Brown, had been working with a private investigator for a year in an attempt to locate her and provide assistance. Ryan noted that he was made aware of a video in late 2025 that appeared to show Chase in a severely emaciated state on Skid Row.
Her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, announced her death and established a GoFundMe to help the voiceover actress "find comfort and peace" in her final days.
Chase's mother, Cathy, expressed her devastation upon learning of her daughter's death. "It felt like something inside of me squeezing all of the air out of me, and at the same time, it felt like I was exploding outwardly," she told the Daily Mail. "I let out this guttural scream and I just was running... And these weird sounds were coming out of me, these kind of, like, primeval sounds."
At the time of her death, Daveigh Chase had an estate valued at $400,000 in personal property. Her mother has petitioned the court to be named administrator of the estate.
