Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, announced late Saturday that he will not be on Fox's college football show Big Noon Kickoff next week, a development that has cast doubt on his recently announced content deal with the broadcaster.

Portnoy posted on X, formerly Twitter, writing: "Breaking news. I will not be on Big Noon Kickoff on Fox next week. So no #askdave segment for next week. No further questions at this time." The message came two weeks into the college football season and roughly two months after Portnoy revealed a content agreement with Fox in July that included weekly appearances on the program.

Earlier on Saturday, Portnoy posted a video reacting to Michigan's 24-13 loss to Oklahoma, in which he appeared dejected and hinted at tension surrounding his Fox role. In that clip he said: "It was just a bad night to be a Michigan Wolverine, to be me. I got my Big Noon Kickoff guys, who I've know for 15 minutes, are now texting me just... and I guess when you're g" — trailing off without providing further explanation.

Portnoy's social-media message specifically referenced the "#askdave" segment he has contributed to Big Noon Kickoff, indicating the segment would not air the following week. He did not elaborate on the reasons for his temporary absence or on the status of his wider content deal with Fox.

Fox and Portnoy did not immediately provide further public details about the announcement. The lack of clarification from either party left the scope and duration of Portnoy's absence unclear as college football coverage continues to draw high viewership and attention.

Portnoy, a prominent and often controversial figure in sports media, has built a large following through Barstool Sports and his social-media presence. His July agreement with Fox marked a notable expansion of his mainstream-media reach, with scheduled appearances on one of the network's flagship college football studio shows. This week’s announcement interrupts that plan at a time when the college season was only beginning.

Observers will be watching for additional posts from Portnoy or statements from Fox that clarify whether the absence is a short-term change in scheduling, a dispute, or a broader alteration to the content partnership. For now, Portnoy's midseason withdrawal from Big Noon Kickoff is confirmed only by his own social-media post, and details remain limited.
