Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, who first separated in 2017, maintain a close relationship, speaking daily and gathering for weekly family meals with their children and grandchildren. DeVito, 81, described their bond as "good" in a recent interview, noting their continued connection.

The couple met in 1971 in New York and married in 1982, sharing three children: Lucy, Grace, and Jacob. They also collaborated professionally, appearing together in the sitcom "Taxi" and the film "Matilda," which DeVito directed.

Their initial separation occurred in October 2012, followed by a reconciliation in 2013, and a second separation in March 2017. Despite living apart, they have remained an integral part of each other's lives and their children's families. DeVito stated they are "always over at her house" and that they "see the grandchildren together."

In 2019, Perlman, 78, spoke about their enduring connection, saying they "have always loved each other" and share "three amazing children." She explained that their relationship was "much better" now that "all the tense stuff is gone" and that they do not plan to divorce. "That's not in the picture," she stated, "what for?"

Perlman elaborated that their current dynamic is less intrusive, with neither being "in your face." She emphasized that while the transition for their children was challenging, everyone now has a positive relationship with both of them and with each other, which is their primary concern. She reiterated their commitment to not divorcing, highlighting that their amicable separation allows for a more peaceful coexistence. DeVito and Perlman were photographed together in 2024, demonstrating their continued closeness.
